Canthoplasty is a surgery that corrects the starting point of the double eyelid line as well as the horizontal length and angle of the eyes to make stuffy-looking eyes appear more open and refreshed.

Epicanthoplasty, lateral canthoplasty, upper canthoplasty, and lower canthoplasty each correct in different directions. We evaluate the distance between the eyes, the exposure of the sclera, and the angle of the outer corners of the eyes together, combining only the necessary canthoplasty procedures.

The incision is positioned so that the scar is hidden along the inner conjunctiva or the natural skin crease, creating a natural look that is unnoticeable.

Types

Four kinds Slit

Medial epicanthoplasty

Medial epicanthoplasty

It incises the epicanthic fold on the inner corner of the eye and sutures it from the inside to create a fresh and soft eye shape.

Lateral canthoplasty

Lateral canthoplasty

It widens the horizontal length of the eyes to improve the appearance of eyes that look too close together.

Upper canthoplasty

Upper canthoplasty

It clearly tidies up the skin covering the epicanthal fold in an upward direction to make the eyes look defined.

Lower canthoplasty

Lower canthoplasty

Lowering the outer lower eyelid of the pupil creates a gentle, kind eye shape.

Medial Canthoplasty

Cases where epicanthoplasty is needed

  1. 01If you want cool and defined eyes
  2. 02If the eyes look dull and closed-in
  3. 03Cases where the eyes appear close together or stuffy due to epicanthal folds
  4. 04When the distance between the eyes looks wide
Medial Canthoplasty · Method

Epicanthoplasty surgery process

  1. Close-up of the eye shape before epicanthoplasty
    STEP 01Design

Design it in a shape that suits you.

  2. An explanatory image indicating the inner eye incision guide.
    STEP 02Epicanthoplasty

The inner Mongolian fold of the eye is incised while hiding the scar by placing it close and parallel to the natural skin texture.

  3. Close-up of the eye shape after epicanthoplasty
    STEP 03Complete

Natural and refreshing-looking eyes are created.

Lateral Canthoplasty

When lateral canthoplasty is needed

  1. 01When the horizontal length of the eyes is narrow, making the eyes look stuffy or closed-in
  2. 02Cases where eyes look crossed due to low exposure of the sclera (whites of the eyes)
  3. 03Cases where the outer corners of the eyes are upturned, giving the eyes a sharp look
  4. 04If you want to change your image to a softer impression
Lateral Canthoplasty · Method

Lateral canthoplasty procedure

  1. Close-up of the eyes before lateral canthoplasty
    STEP 01Design

Design the direction and length of the outer corners of the eyes.

  2. Illustrative image showing the incision line on the outer corner of the eye
    STEP 02Incision and fixation

The skin is incised and the tissue is dissected to firmly fix the tip of the lateral canthus to the periosteum. Excess skin is trimmed through a minimal incision.

  3. Close-up of the eyes after lateral canthoplasty
    STEP 03Complete

Natural and refreshing-looking eyes are created.

Upper Canthoplasty

Cases where an upper epicanthoplasty is needed

  1. 01Cases where the space between the eyebrows is narrow and looks cramped
  2. 02If the eyes look dull and closed-in
  3. 03If your eyes look fierce
  4. 04Cases where the horizontal width of the eyes is short, making the eyes look small
Upper Canthoplasty · Method

Upper canthoplasty surgical procedure

  1. Explanatory image showing a 45-degree incision line
    STEP 0145° epicanthoplasty

The upper inner corner of the eye is raised at a 45° angle to create the incision.

  2. Minimal incision explanation image
    STEP 02Minimal incision

The excess skin around the epicanthal fold is trimmed using minimal incision.

  3. Explanatory image showing the direction of suturing
    STEP 03Inner suture

Sutures are placed inside the eye so that the scar is not visible.

  4. Close-up of the eyes after upper canthoplasty
    STEP 04Complete

Natural and defined eyes are achieved.

Lower Canthoplasty

Cases where lower blepharoplasty (canthoplasty) is needed

  1. 01If the horizontal length of the eyes is narrow
  2. 02If the eyes look dull and closed-in
  3. 03Cases where epicanthoplasty cannot be performed because the distance between the eyes is narrow
  4. 04If you want to change your image to a softer impression
Lower Canthoplasty · Method

Lower eyelid surgery procedure

  1. An explanatory image illustrating the lower eyelid incision markings
    STEP 01Conjunctival incision

An incision is made in the conjunctiva inside the eye to separate the skin from the conjunctiva.

  2. Explanatory image showing the fixing direction
STEP 02Fixing the outer corner of the eyes

After adjusting the outer corners of the eyes to fit the design, they are fixed to the periosteum.

  3. Close-up of the eyes after lower blepharoplasty
    STEP 03Complete

A natural and kind eye shape is created.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

QWill it leave a scar?

The incision for the epicanthoplasty is made along the natural skin texture, while the lateral and lower canthoplasties are made along the inner conjunctiva or the wrinkles at the outer corner of the eye, making them barely noticeable after recovery.

QCan it be done together with double eyelid surgery?

They are often performed together. If the starting point of the double eyelid line is cleaned up with an epicanthoplasty, the line connects more naturally. The decision is made during the consultation after checking the distance between the eyes.

QDoesn't it fuse back together after lateral canthoplasty?

Firmly fix the lateral canthus to the periosteum and trim the excess skin to reduce the possibility of re-adhesion. It is important to follow the post-operative care instructions carefully.
