Scar Removal — what is it?

When skin damaged by external stimulation heals and leaves a mark,
It is a procedure that makes such scars and wounds less visible from outside.

Once the skin is wounded it can never return 100% to its previous state, but by minimising the deformation of the skin tissue and
The goal of scar removal treatment is to make it blend in well with the surrounding skin.

Scar Removal Surgical method

  1. Fusiform excision

It is a method of excising all or part of the wound in a fusiform shape and then suturing it precisely.
This is the most common method; where the wound is extensive, staged fusiform excision is carried out several times at intervals of 3–6 months.

  2. Z-plasty

The wound becomes longer than before, but because the direction of the scar is turned to follow the lines of minimal skin tension,
As a result the wound becomes less visible than before.

  3. W-plasty

It is a method of excising the scar in a zigzag shape and then suturing it precisely.
The direction of the wound is turned to follow the lines of minimal skin tension so that it is less visible from outside.

  4. Skin grafting

Where the wound is so extensive that restoration is impossible, or would take far too long,
It is a method of harvesting skin from the buttocks or thigh and grafting it onto the wound.
